Flemington connected garden

Two familes and two gardens combined to create a productive permaculture garden

Tearing down the fence between the two properties transformed them from two modest and shady gardens to one large and light filled productive garden.

The raised edible garden beds are located at the boundary between the two properties, elevated and positioned to capture sunlight even in the depths of winter. Beyond is the primarily native garden which provides habitat for birds and other wildlife.

The edible lawn to the north is in shade throughout the winter months so this is where the deciduous trees and shrubs are located.

Cool bananas thrive on the western boundary providing summer shade, privacy and a place to empty dirty sink water.

Sweet potato vine and silvanberry cover the eastern fence.
