The proposed design utilises the north-facing slope, balancing productivity with aesthetic appeal and playfulness. The upper level makes the most of the stunning view across the hillside and winter sunlight as the hub of daily activity This is Zone 1.
Zone 2 consists of the food forest garden and animals, who may free-range within this area if desired; however, a permanent poultry run reduces the need for free-ranging. The garden becomes more self sustaining further from the house.
The food forest trees are partnered with infiltration swales to capture every drop of water run-off. They manage surface water, allowing it to penetrate the groundwater rather than leaving the property. The entire garden is laid out based on site contours. Additional terracing is recommended to improve workability
The front garden is designated as a native garden area, with bird and animal attracting plants the priority.
